Canada Considering New Steel Tariffs

Yesterday, Canada’s Finance Minister, Bill Morneau spoke in Hamilton, Ontario regarding potential steel tariffs. The Government of Canada is consulting with stakeholders in the steel industry over the next two weeks to determine the steps that could be taken to avoid potential harm to the Canadian steel industry. This comes as a result of an increase in foreign steel shipments in the second quarter of this year, following the imposition of steel tariffs from the United States.
