5% Tariffs on Imports from Mexico

On Thursday, May 30, 2019, U.S. President Donald Trump announced his intentions to impose tariffs of 5% on imports from Mexico. These tariffs are intended to address the migrant crisis at the U.S. – Mexico border according to Trump and will begin to be imposed on June 10, 2019.

In the official statement, it was detailed that until the crisis is adequately addressed by Mexico, the U.S. will increase the tariff by 5% increments on July 1, August 1, September 1 and October 1 when the tariff would reach 25%.
