The United States Trade Representative (USTR) has released a list of products that are now excluded from the Section 301 tariffs being charged on Chinese goods. This list was released on December 21, 2018, and included injection molds, which have been subject to 25% duty since these tariffs were applied. These exclusions will apply to the goods retroactively to the date that the tariffs were enforced, which was July 6, 2018. It is anticipated that there will be further exclusions announced by the USTR.
Please note that these exclusions will not take effect until the current US Government shutdown has ended. We encourage you to review your import activity to determine if you could be impacted by this change. Please reach out to Buckland if you could be eligible for these retroactive exclusions.
For more information about the goods on the list, see the notice on the USTR website.
