Potential Delays at Southern Border due to Hurricane Harvey

Buckland has received notice from local officials that the pending storm in Texas could have an impact on crossing times at the Southern Border. Hurricane Harvey is expected to make landfall late in the afternoon on Friday.

Depending on the severity of the storm, there could be delays with inspections at the border. The United States Department of Agriculture – Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (USDA APHIS) has stated that they will be monitoring the situation on a call by call basis from Friday, August 25, 2017, until Sunday, August 27, 2017, and identification services and fumigations could be postponed until conditions are safe.

Additionally, the World Trade Bridge is currently experiencing phone outages. Commercial systems have not been affected by this outage and commercial processing continues without delay. Any concerns can be emailed to ACEWTB@cbp.dhs.gov.

Buckland will be monitoring this situation and will be sure to reach out if there are pertinent updates that will have an impact on your business.
