Port of Vancouver Lockout and Ongoing Port of Montreal Strike

November 5, 2024. We are reaching out to inform you of the recent developments affecting key Canadian ports:

As of November 4, 2024, the B.C. Maritime Employers Association (BCMEA) has locked out members of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) Local 514 at the Port of Vancouver. This action follows the 72-hour strike notice issued by the union, resulting in a disruption to operations at one of Canada’s largest ports.

This lockout at the Port of Vancouver is in addition to the ongoing indefinite strike at the Port of Montreal’s Viau and Maisonneuve terminals, which began on October 31, 2024, and continues to impact cargo movement through these terminals.

We recommend planning for potential delays and reviewing alternate routing options where feasible. Our team will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as they become available.
