Montreal Port Strike Update: Resumption of Activities

October 3, 2024. We are pleased to inform you that as of 7 a.m. today, the partial strike at the Viau and Maisonneuve terminals has officially ended. All terminals at the Port of Montreal are now fully operational, and normal operations for the pickup and drop-off of goods have resumed. Schedules are back to their regular routines.

However, due to the three-day work stoppage, there is currently a bottleneck at the railhead. Containers that arrived prior to the strike, along with new inbound and outbound containers, have contributed to the congestion. It may take several days to fully clear the backlog.

Additionally, vessels that were delayed during the strike are now being prioritized for unloading and reloading, but delays are expected until the terminal congestion eases.

At Buckland, we are actively working to minimize any potential delays.

We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will provide further updates as they become available. Should you have any questions or concerns regarding your shipments or the potential impact of this disruption, please contact us at clientsupportca@buckland.com.

Thank you for your continued trust in Buckland.
