An ‘indefinite’ strike by the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 375 representing longshoremen began August 10, 2020, at 7:00 am at the Port of Montreal. This action comes after a pair of four-day strikes that have not resulted in a resolution to labour actions regarding wages and scheduling.
The Port of Montreal is the 2nd largest Canadian Port and this strike involves over 1,100 employees who are members of the CUPE Local 375. This will have an impact on all terminals and the movement of any vessels due to arrive at the Port of Montreal during this time frame.
