Yesterday, the world’s largest container shipping company, Maersk was impacted in the global cyber attack “Petya”.
Following the attack, Maersk confirmed that they are working through their technical recovery plan to minimize the impact on operations, customers and partners from the current situation. At this point, it has resulted in shutdowns in the ports of New York and New Jersey as well as Rotterdam in the Netherlands, which is Europe’s largest harbour. The full scope of this cyber attack is still being determined and issues have been reported in Ukraine, Spain, Germany, Israel, the UK, Netherlands and the U.S.
