Following 36 hours of negotiations and a day-long strike by the Public Service Alliance of Canada – Customs and Immigration Union (PSAC-CIU), a deal was reached and the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) employee strike ended on the evening of Friday, August 6, 2021.
The strike began on the morning of August 6, 2021, and threatened to cause delays at Canadian land border crossings, airports, shipping ports, postal facilities, and CBSA offices ahead of the reopening of the Canadian border to fully vaccinated U.S. citizens on August 9, 2021.
