Further to our update on May 24, 2017, the following information has been shared by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Mexican Customs:
- CBP is hopeful that the World Trade Bridge will reopen late next week and they will continue to provide updates as they become available.
- The situation in Laredo with respect to transfer/drayage companies is becoming increasingly competitive. Based on the significant increase in crossing time as a result of the closure, there is a shortage of available transfers available, both Northbound and Southbound. Buckland continues to work with our existing and additional transfers to keep our customers freight moving. We will continue to work with our customers to make additional arrangements to ensure your freight keeps moving as quickly as possible during the bridge closure.
- The World Trade Bridge is open to receive empty trucks and trailers on both sides of the border. This should alleviate approximately 20% of the loads at the Columbia Bridge.
- The Colombia Bridge is offering extended hours as a result of a coordinated effort between Mexican Customs and U.S. Customs.
- Southbound shipments (from the US to Mexico) the Colombia Bridge will now be open 24 hours for the remainder of the week (May 25 and May 26, 2017).
- Currently Northbound loads at the Colombia Bridge will be open for extended hours. At present, there is not a definitive time for the extended hours being offered for Northbound loads.
- Weekend hours – Saturday, May 27, 2017 and Sunday, May 28, 2017 the Columbia Bridge will be open for extended hours from 7:00 am CST to 12:00 AM CST
- As of May 24, 2017 Mexican Customs have made the system changes required to clear Laredo entries at the three additional ports.
- Mexican Customs has enabled 3 additional ports (listed below) to electronically receive Laredo Entries (port 240)
- Eagle Pass/Piedras Negras (Buckland is currently supporting crossings at this bridge)
- Mcallen/Reynosa (Buckland will support on a request only basis at this time)
- Brownsville/Matamoros (Buckland is currently supporting crossings at this bridge)
- Mexican Customs has enabled 3 additional ports (listed below) to electronically receive Laredo Entries (port 240)
