June 29, 2018 – Canadian officials were on hand at a steel plant in Hamilton today to announce the finalized list of countermeasures to the US tariffs on steel and aluminum, which will come into effect on July 1, 2018. The complete list of US origin goods which will be subject to the new 10% or 25% surtax can be viewed here with further details on the Canada Borders Services Agency (CBSA) website contained in Customs Notice 18-08.
In addition to this, the Canadian government announced several initiatives to support the Canadian steel and aluminum industries, valued at approximately $2 billion. For more information, see the official news release on the Government of Canada website.
