The United States-Mexico-Canada (USMCA in the US), Canada-United States-Mexico (CUSMA in Canada) Agreement came into effect on July 1, 2020, replacing the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).
A Certificate of Origin is required to obtain preferential tariff treatment and it must be completed accurately and in full. With USMCA/CUSMA there is no specific format for a Certificate of Origin as there was with NAFTA, but it is still required that data elements be reported in order to verify that goods qualify for free trade under the rules and regulations.
