February 13, 2020 – Recently, there have been several closures of sections of CN rail networks as a result of blockages which began last week in opposition to the natural gas pipeline.
The blockades are located east of Belleville, Ontario and between Prince George and Prince Rupert in British Columbia. A new blockade has now been set up on the main line in Headingley, MB, 14km west of Winnipeg, MB. CN has temporarily suspended freight and passenger service in impacted corridors and has impacted the Ports of Prince Rupert, Montreal and Halifax. Hundreds of trains have been cancelled in response to this blockage and North American supply chains are being impacted.
CN has stated that rail service will be restored once the blockades have been removed. For more information, please see this link to CN News Article – Globe Newswire – February 11, 2020.
