Beginning on Friday, October 20, 2017, the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel will be closed for renovations. The tunnel will reopen to traffic on Monday, October 30, 2017, at 5:30 a.m.
Following this closure period, the tunnel will be open during the day but closed from 8:00 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. These evening closures will continue until June 2018 when the project is expected to be completed.
From the Government of Canada website:
“We are working closely with our stakeholders to plan for increased traffic volumes and maintain our service levels during these closures.NEXUS members can decrease crossing times during the Tunnel Renovation Project by using the Canada-bound NEXUS lanes available at the Ambassador Bridge and the Blue Water Bridge, Sarnia/Port Huron.” – Rick Comerford, Regional Director General, CBSA Southern Ontario Region
